A family member has asked for more information on the Greeley family connection so I have added a Greeley page.

The information comes from Genealogy of the Greely-Greeley Family by George Hiram Greeley (1905) and I have included screenshots of the entries referring to our family connection as well as links to the relevant pages in the online version of the book.

A connection to Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune and 1872 Democratic presidential candidate, has been part of the family folklore for many decades. I have reviewed that connection in a comment and provided links to further information about him.
